Simon Perry

A multi-platinum writer/producer from the UK, now based in the USA. With career sales over 20M units. Simon has helped develop and launch the careers of many hit acts. In the UK alone, he’s had 3 #1 albums and 7 Top 20 singles. He also co-wrote and produced Echo and The Bunnymen’s critically acclaimed 11th studio album, ‘The Fountain’. 

Simon was initially signed by, and wrote hit songs for/with the UK’s most successful producer; Steve Mac (Steve’s 2019 hits include Ed Shearan’s record breaking ‘Shape of You’). He has collaborated with some of the world’s biggest writers, including Rob Fusari (Destiny’s Child, Lady Gaga), Wayne Hector (Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears) and Bonnie McKee (Katy Perry, Britney Spears). Simon has co-managed several acts, partnering with legendary artist managers including Safta Jaffrey (Muse) and Peter Leak (Dido, Avril Lavigne) at Red Light Management. Most recently, with Peter Leak/ RLM, New West Records artist Sammy Brue (debut album produced by John Paul White of ‘The Civil Wars’)

Simon is co-owner and founder of Archangel Media which brings together a network of artists and producers for licensing and publishing. The Company has successfully placed featured songs in many Hollywood movies, and created music for some of the biggest shows on US TV. Clients included Joey Santiago (The Pixies), Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) and Dave Thomas Junior, whose song closed out Season 2 of Ricky Gervais’ ‘After Life’. AM is administered by Kobalt Music. 

Simon also founded a US based company with Matt Pincus (SONGS Music Owner/CEO). The mission of the company was to bring UK and US writing and production expertise to local acts in China. The company had huge success with Li Yuchun (Chris Lee). She won the Chinese Idol competition with Baidu (Supagirl), and became a superstar. The album ‘Me’, that Simon co-wrote and produced in Beijing, was the fastest selling album in Chinese history, racking up over 100M downloads. Chris Lee was voted Best Worldwide Act at the 2014 MTV Europe Awards, and one of Simon’s compositions from the album, won the prestigious ‘Song Of The Year Award’ at the ‘Beijing Pop Awards’.  

Simon has been a judge/mentor on numerous TV music shows, and competitions. Including the BBC’s ‘Fame Academy’, ‘The Voice of Mcdonalds’, and PBS’ ‘Song Stage’. 

In 2013, Simon joined leading music tech platform, ReverbNation, as SVP of Creative and Head of A&R. In 2015 he was promoted to Chief Creative Officer. For 5 years, his responsibilities included overseeing Scouting, Rights Management. Publishing, Brand Programs, and the Opportunities business. He also devised and ran the company’s Artist Development initiative, ReverbNation CONNECT

ReverbNation was acquired by BandLab in 2021.

In 2021, Simon was named President & Head of A&R, North America at Sentric Music Group. At Sentric he signed several high profile deals, from Beach Weather’s billion streamer and global radio hit “Sex Drugs etc”, to Rough Trade’s iconic publishing catalogue. He also set up publishing entities for several global distributors including United Masters in the USA, and DistroDirect in Australia.

Sentric was acquired by believe digital in 2023.

He is passionate about fostering a collaborative environment that empowers artists to express their unique voices. His commitment to excellence has earned him recognition within the industry, as well as a loyal fan base for the artists he represents.

A graduate of College of Charleston, Matt combines his academic background with practical experience, ensuring that Coast Records remains at the forefront of the evolving music landscape. In addition to his work in the studio, he is an advocate for music education and has participated in industry panels, sharing insights on trends and the future of music.
